My name is Scott Davis and I live in a very quiet corner of north central Missouri – “Little Dixie” as it is fondly referred to around here. I am a Registered Nurse by trade but a closet theologian at heart.
After graduating from high school I was irrisistably drawn to the Scriptures and a deeper walk with God. I gave my life over to God’s direction and eventually graduated from a Bible college that was affiliated with the denomination in which I grew up. Ordained into the ministry of this denomination my heart was continually troubled over the years by the “faith + works” formula (which I was expected to preach and teach) for salvation. I began a search for the answers to the salvation/relational questions that troubled my heart and mind. My faith journey took me down many dusty roads and crooked paths over the years. It was the bottom line … the truth … of what are the basic essentials for salvation that spurred me on.
Eventually God led me to the discovery of Reformation theology. Not the stern Continental versions as seen in Zwingli, Luther and Calvin, but to the beauty of Reformed theology as it was so remarkably proclaimed by the Anglican reformers. It’s discovery set me free. Free from the chains of legalism and a works salvation. Free from exclusivism to the church catholic. The Holy Spirit helped me to understand, in an epiphanal way, the marvelously wonderful truth of Ephesian 2:8.
It is on this verse that I now, theologically, stand.
So, it is in this spirit and mindset, and in His service, that I humbly start, and dedicate, this blog.
Blessings.
Scott
